National Concert Hall report shows Primary Strings Project initiative leads to improvement in children’s confidence and self-esteem
Today the National Concert Hall launched the results of a recent report on the Primary Strings Project, an initiative which allows every child in the classroom the opportunity to learn an instrument, during school time. It revealed that children having access to instrumental music tuition (generally confined to after-school, fee-paying provision) leads to improvement in their confidence and self-esteem.

There Will Be Blood composer Jonny Greenwood to première ‘Water’ at the National Concert Hall played by the Australian Chamber Orchestra
There Will Be Blood composer Jonny Greenwood (best-known as the lead guitarist of the band Radiohead) will have his piece ‘Water’ performed by the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) at the National Concert Hall on Thursday 2 October 2014, as part of their European Tour. This is the world première of the piece which has been worked on by the ACO and Greenwood over the last year.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic to open the National Concert Hall’s 2014/2015 Season with Irish première of percussion concerto by Stewart Copeland, former drummer with The Police
On 17 September 2014, 8pm the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will open the National Concert Hall’s International Concert Series 2014/2015
with the Irish première of a percussion concerto ‘Poltroons in Paradise’ by former drummer of The Police, Stewart Copeland. Scored for timpani, three percussionists and full symphony orchestra, the piece was commissioned by the RLPO for the 175th anniversary of their foundation in 1840.

Dónal Lunny gathers traditional musicians for St. Patrick’s Weekend concert at the National Concert Hall
Christy Moore, Bono and Mark Knopfler have all crossed his path … he is Donal Lunny. On Sunday 16th of March, Donal Lunny of LAPD, Planxty, Moving Hearts and Bothy Band fame joins a host of Irish musicians to perform as part of the St. Patrick’s weekend at The National Concert Hall. Joining him will be the acclaimed Irish fiddler Zoë Conway, the prodigious Padraig Rynne on concertinas, Breton flautist Sylvain Barou and the renowned singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andy Irvine.
