Hendrik Weber, better known as Pantha du Prince, is a German techno minimalist whose latest collaboration with the Oslo music collective The Bell Laboratory entitled ‘Elements of Light’ will be played out at the National Concert Hall, Wednesday 26 March as part of the Perspectives Series 2014.

Today, 26 February 2014, ESB and the National Concert Hall are delighted to announce the line-up for this year’s ESB LIVE Series. Now in its 5th year, ESB Live is a series of 5 concerts featuring a range of truly great national and international musicians from April 25th to June 19th including; Roxy Music legend and musical icon Bryan Ferry (18th & 19th June), Bell X1’s front-man Paul Noonan with his solo project ‘Printer Clips’ (24th May) and Penguin Café making their Irish debut supported by Choice Music Prize nominee, Lisa O’Neill (25th April)*.

On Saturday 26 April 2014 the National Concert Hall and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra welcome the multi Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore to Dublin for a concert of his own music. The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be conducted by Ludwig Wicki and joined by cellist Emma-Jane Murphy, and chorus to include DIT Choral Society.

The National Concert Hall will play host to one of the most thrilling American musicians of his generation, Chris Thile of Punch Brothers in a new duo with the acclaimed pianist Brad Mehldau. The singer and mandolin virtuoso will perform on Sunday 9 November in a unique evening of music with Mehldau, one most lyrical and intimate voices of contemporary jazz piano. As a solo artist, band leader and collaborator (with artists such as Pat Metheny, Anne Sofie von Otter, Renée Fleming, and Joshua Redman), Mehldau continues to garner awards and admiration from both jazz purists and music enthusiasts alike.

Christy Moore, Bono and Mark Knopfler have all crossed his path … he is Donal Lunny. On Sunday 16th of March, Donal Lunny of LAPD, Planxty, Moving Hearts and Bothy Band fame joins a host of Irish musicians to perform as part of the St. Patrick’s weekend at The National Concert Hall. Joining him will be the acclaimed Irish fiddler Zoë Conway, the prodigious Padraig Rynne on concertinas, Breton flautist Sylvain Barou and the renowned singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andy Irvine.

Acclaimed British pianist John Lill celebrates his 70th Birthday by embarking on a landmark series of recitals of the complete piano sonatas by Beethoven culminating this February with a recital at the National Concert Hall (20th of February) before completing the cycle in Cadogan Hall, London later in the month.

Grammy-winning virtuoso violinist Joshua Bell makes a welcome return to the National Concert Hall on the 21st of January 2014 to perform with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. The programme for the first concert of the New Year as part of the National Concert Hall’s International Concert Series 13/14 features Bach’s Chaconne from Partita No. 2 in D minor BWV 1004*, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in C major and Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77.
