Cór Linn

Cór Linn is a mixed soprano, alto, tenor, bass (SATB) choir of around 40 singers aged between 14 and 19.

It was founded by in 2018 to give young singers the opportunity to develop their vocal skills in more advanced repertoire, and to act as a stepping stone to adult choirs. Following their transfer from RTÉ to the National Concert Hall in January 2022, they have settled into rehearsals and performances alongside their NCH choral family members - the National Symphony Chorus, and Cór na nÓg.

Membership is diverse and inclusive, open to all young SATB singers interested in developing their vocal skills. Repertoire is mixed – from Bach to the Cranberries!  - with the standard of musicianship and level of professionalism high. Rehearsals are focussed, including sectional and individual tutor sessions, but is relaxed and fun with plenty of support from the whole music team.

Cór Linn performances have included Culture Night in the NCH and successive New Music Dublin Festival concerts, when they have given Irish and world premieres of pieces such as Considering Matthew Shepard (Craig Hella Johnson) and specially commissioned works by Elaine Agnew, Seán Doherty, Peter Leavy and Ferdia O’Cairbre, conducted by Mary Amond O’Brien.

The choir has performed on RTÉ television and radio and at prestigious live televised events such as the Irish Civil War Commemorations in May 2023, attended by the Taoiseach and members of the Government. It’s unique relationship with the National Symphony Orchestra also provides wonderful opportunities to sing with the Orchestra (Christmas concerts; Fauré's Requiem; Mahler: Symphony no 2 Resurrection etc) and collaborate with the NSC and Cór na nÓg, as well as prepare stand-alone choral repertoire.

A collaboration with the National Symphony Chorus and Cór na nÓg on Victor Johnson’s setting of The Irish Blessing, garnered a very impressive 90,000+ YouTube views in March 2020.

In October 2024, Cór Linn travelled to Derry for the City of Derry International Choir Festival for the first time and were thrilled to come away from the festival with two awards

Winner of the National Youth Choir Competition
and
Second Place in the National Sacred and Gospel Competition.

Choral singing is all about teamwork, self-expression and joy in the music with many singers taking their singing onwards through life and joining adult choirs wherever they live and work.

If YOU would like to sing with a group of wonderful, vibrant young people, then Cór Linn is the choir for you!
