Press Release 10am Monday 13 March

Following their sold-out 15th anniversary show at London’s Printworks, seminal record label Erased Tapes will take over the National Concert Hall on May 20. This special event will see eight unique artists each performing in various spaces in the Hall from 7pm to 11pm. Headlined by UK electronic producer Rival Consoles and legendary ensemble Penguin Café (featuring former members of Suede and Gorillaz), the illustrious line-up also features a Kiasmos DJ set from Janus Rasmussen and a live performance from Galway-based American songsmith Peter Broderick.

In addition, Japanese voice artist Hatis Noit makes a welcome return to the National Concert Hall after her lauded Haunted Dancehall performance last year and we are proud to present the first Irish solo show from Berlin-based cellist and long-time Nils Frahm collaborator Anne Müller. The night also boasts a modular synth set from Brooklyn composer and Dawn of Midi-drummer Qasim Naqvi, plus a DJ set from the latest Erased Tapes family member, French avant-RnB producer Crayon.

Founded by sonic architect and explorer Robert Raths aka ghostworker in 2007, Erased Tapes has consistently nurtured genre-defying artists from all around the world without losing its avant-garde ethos. This special event will see Rival Consoles and Penguin Café lead a four-stage celebration of its ground-breaking sonic experimentation.

Rival Consoles aka London-based producer Ryan Lee makes a welcome return to these shores in advance of his sold-out summer Barbican headline show. He will perform a set featuring tracks from his latest acclaimed records Articulation (2020) and Overflow (2021).

Arthur Jeffes’ beloved Penguin Cafe featuring Neil Codling (Suede), Cass Browne (Gorillaz), Oli Langford (Florence + the Machine) and Darren Berry (Razorlight) return to the NCH having just released a lovingly produced 10th anniversary reissue of their debut album, A Matter of Life… 2021.
