George Gershwin called him ‘the greatest songwriter that has ever lived; Jerome Kern declared that he has ‘no place in American music – he IS American music!’ Over a career spanning sixty years, Irving Berlin composed 1,500 songs, 20 stage musicals and 15 film scores. Join soprano Sandra Oman, baritone Simon Morgan and pianist David Wray in a celebration of this twentieth-century master of the theatre and cinema. Programme includes: Cheek to Cheek; Anything you can do (I can do better); Blue Skies; It’s a Lovely Day Today; I Got Lost in his Arms; There’s no Business like Show Business; Let’s Face the Music and Dance; What’ll I Do; You can’t get a Man with a Gun; Easter Parade; Always; Alexander’s Ragtime Band; A Couple of Swells; Count Your Blessings; Happy Holiday; and of course, White Christmas!
