The National Concert Hall in association with the National String Quartet Foundation is delighted to present the fourth annual Chamber Music Gathering, taking place at the National Concert Hall in the first week of January 2020.
Following three days of intensive rehearsal, the Gathering culminates in three concerts featuring masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire. Playing alongside the rising stars of Irish classical music will be the country’s leading professional string players, offering a unique array of ensembles in a wonderful day of great music. The programme features quintets by Mozart, Beethoven, Glazunov and Hindemith, sextets by Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky and Schubert's Octet for strings and wind.
The National String Quartet Foundation was established to create and sponsor projects which bring live chamber music to audiences throughout Ireland. Its programme for 2020, supported by the Arts Council, includes a celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, with six commissions inspired by the master and nationwide performances of his complete string quartets played by eight different quartets, all based in Ireland or including Irish players.
