The Blow the Dust Orchestra Appeal
The Blow the Dust Orchestra is designed to encourage older and returning musicians to dust off their instruments and come together to create a musical social community, with the NCH as its clubhouse.
Drawn together by their common love of music, the members tell us of the profound impact the orchestra has made on their lives:
“I joined the orchestra in 2009 after a life-threatening illness. It gave me confidence and focus to get back on my feet and carry on with my life. The last 10 years have been fabulous and still going strong” – Noel, Banjo.
“Joining has been one of the best things I've ever done…The Conductor and Tutors are first class and also very patient. The music is varied in style and It has encouraged me to go back to classes and really work to improve my playing… You have opened up a whole new chapter in life for me” – Patricia, Cello.
“Being a member of the Orchestra has brought renewed vigour to this later stage of my life, has given purpose through the challenge to improve my playing, and has enabled the forging of new friendships as we work together to make music" - Mary, Violin
With a team of dedicated professional tutors and mentors, and a variety of performance opportunities each year, the Blow the Dust Orchestra is dependent on contributions from people like you.
We ask you to consider supporting this life-changing venture.
