The Cruellest Month - Mina Tindle, Kate Stables (This is the Kit) & Quatuor Zaïde
featuring Bryce Dessner, Thomas Bartlett, Benjamin Lanz, and Olivier Marguerit
Special guests: Thomas Bartlett & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh
A weekend of Irish debuts, collaborations and musical meetings.
Mina Tindle makes her NCH debut with her collaborators Kate Stables, Byrce Dessner, Benjamin Lanz, Olivier Marguerit (bass) and the all-female string quartet, Quatuor Zaïde. The show is opened with a rare duo appearance by Thomas Bartlett and Caoimhin O’Raghallaigh of The Gloaming.
Mina Tindle is a Parisian-born folk and new-wave singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. After initially studying literature in Paris, she was inspired by the music of Cat Power to begin writing and recording her own songs. Her debut album Taranta earned international praise from tastemakers such as Pitchfork and The Line of Best Fit, who respectively described her sound as “breezily cool” and “combining delicate, heart-wrenching vocals with gentle, touching melodies.”
In 2024, she returned to the studio in the heart of the French Basque Country, where she completed ten tracks in both English and French. Bryce Dessner (The National) and Sufjan Stevens joined her in production. The album is set for release at the end of 2025.
Kate Stables’ music places companionship at a premium, so being welcomed into its space feels like an obvious privilege, whether on record and in concert hall with her band This is the Kit, in her many collaborations with likeminded artists such as The National or in her solo work.
Quatuor Zaïde is Charlotte Maclet (first violin), Leslie Boulin Raulet (second violin), Céline Tison (viola) and Juliette Salmona (cello). The Zaïde quartet was created in 2009 and has established itself on the international scene as one of the rare quartets made up entirely of women. It is one of the essential chamber music ensembles on the classical musical landscape today, recognized for its high standards and continued exploration of the sound spectrum of the quartet.
Bryce Dessner is a classical composer and guitarist, arranger and co-principal songwriter of The National.
Benjamin Lanz, also known by his solo project moniker LANZ, is a multi-instrumental musician, arranger, songwriter, and composer who has worked with a long list of great musicians and bands - most commonly with the bands The National and Beirut.
This weekend sees NCH debuts from the acclaimed French singer-songwriter Mina Tindle and Quatuor Zaïde, the return of the much-loved Sam Amidon and Kate Stables with Bryce Dessner (The National) and Benjamin Lanz contributing. Thomas Bartlett and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh of The Gloaming reconvene their sublime duo.
