The National Concert Hall recognises the need to extend its work to health organisations, hospitals, day care centres and disability organisations bringing the enjoyment of listening to and performing music into the wider community.

Kids Classics

In November 2008, Education & Outreach launched Kids' Classics, an initiative to bring interactive, educational music workshops to children in hospital on an ongoing basis.

National Rehabilitation Hospital

The National Concert Hall sends a duo of musicians, trained in music in healthcare settings, into the National Rehabilitation Hospital fortnightly, to play in common rooms and on wards. This project is supported by the Irish Medicines Board.

AfriKaa!

AfriKaa! is a multi-sensory installation created by sound artist Slavek Kwi for the National Concert Hall for children with autistic spectrum conditions and their families to enjoy together.

Surrounding Sounds

Surroundings is an audio-active project, supported and funded by the National Concert Hall and St. Declan’s School, that aims to awaken the child’s artistic sensibilities, with a specific focus on sound.

Health & Harmony

Health & Harmony was an outreach music programme specially developed to meet the needs of those patients and their families living with dementia.  This programme brought professional musicians into nursing homes and care settings around Ireland for bi-monthly performances, enhancing the quality of life for over 200 patients, careers and their families over 12 months.
